The husband of a Texas realtor has been arrested in connection to his wife’s disappearance – as a neighbor says they heard screaming coming from the woods after an argument.
Brad Chandler Simpson, 53, of Olmos Park – four miles north of San Antonio – was arrested in Kendall County early Wednesday morning, just three days after his wife, Suzanne Clark Simpson, 51, went missing.
A neighbor told police that he heard the couple arguing from his window and saw the two engaged in a physical fight, with Brad ‘grabbing her upper torso area to gain control of her body,’ a police report, viewed by News 4 San Antonio, claimed.
After the alleged fight carried on for several minutes, the neighbor said he went outside with a flashlight to look for the couple but quickly went back inside him home after he heard screaming coming from a wooded area.
An hour later, he claims Brad took off in his truck before returning a few hours later, the police report said.
Brad was uncooperative during the investigation and did not show up for a follow-up interview, according to the report. He also relocated from his home in Olmos Park to his ranch in Bandera.
The mother-of-four, who is 5-foot-5 and 140 pounds, was last seen on Sunday.
Authorities said the realtor, who worked for Nix Realty Company, went missing after attending a party at The Argyle in the Alamo Heights neighborhood, according to The Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
On Tuesday, the father told Texas Ranger Jesse L. Perez that one of his daughters’ school called him after Suzanne failed to pick up the girl around 3 pm, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
After that, Brad ‘appeared to be separating himself from his family’ as he made his relocation, the warrant said.
The couple’s youngest child told Howard Elementary School staff that her father hit her mother in the face and had possibly pushed her into a wall, according to Olmos Park Officer Jarrod Tubbs.
The child also allegedly told staff that her father had taken away her mother’s cellphone, according to The Express-News.
Police were last able to ping Suzanne’s phone at 7:15 am on Monday near a business in Olmos Park.
‘There has been no more activity since this last known ping. At the time of this affidavit, there have been no signs of life from Ms. Simpson,’ the warrant said.
Police are searching the San Antonio River and other areas and have not yet found the mother.
‘Basically, we’re looking for anything,’ Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Deon Cockrell told News 4 San Antonio. ‘The search crews will go through and continue to search for her in any possible area that she may be missing or possibly located.’
Brad is currently booked in the Kendall County Jail on charges of assault with bodily injury-family violence and unlawful restraint.
Suzanne was last seen wearing a black dress with black heels, that investigators believe she may have taken off.
